Spider’s Silk Seen As Gene Therapy Vehicle
Material avoids problems of viral vectors

Recombinant spider’s silk proteins joined to tumor-homing peptides offer a promising vehicle for delivery of genetic therapies, according to researchers at Tufts University in Boston. The biocompatible, bioengineered silk delivery systems avoid the safety concerns related to viral vectors, the lead researchers said.
